The Boathouse

This project was lodged for planning permission in April 2020. The distinctive end of terrace house of this run of coastguard dwellings has a boathouse dating from the days prior to the reclamation of land to accommodate the port. The project proposes to use the boat house to provide a one-bedroom dwelling by adding a modern block to its rear to which it is connected with a simple glazed link.  The main space of the boathouse along with all its openings and roof structure are left intact. The new block is at right angles to the boathouse with a matching form but with modern materials of dark zinc, with more than a little nod to the containers of the port, containing all the services and modern conveniences.
