Mews house in Rathgar
Status: In progress
A mews site in Dublin 6, this projects never proceeded past the sketch design stage. However we did enjoy designing it as much as we enjoyed the research. Some of the plots had been untouched as ours since the building of the main Victorian house, some had been developed as sheds for mechanics, some as mini semi-ds in the 70’s and some as architectural statements in recent time. Our scheme opted to keep the street line, present little to the street, but to open to the rear and bring light in the centre of the plan with a double height space. Generous accommodation to front and rear on the upper floor and bathrooms with rooflights to the centre of the plan, the plot length was so generous that even with a long mews, both house and mews still still enjoyed gardens and privacy.
